What is SEME-strale?

SEME-strale is a bi-annual creative publication that collects, maps and narrates the hopes, ambitions and innovative paths toward a more sustainable future for public and cultural events.

The publication was created within the Florère project, as a means to share the results of the design work with the public. Over the course of the project data on habits, ideas and needs related to sustainability have been collected. The results of this research have been mapped and will be shared through SEMEstrale, thus improving the ability of cultural organizations in Siena to understand and respond to the needs of their communities.

The goal of this publication is to help cultural organizations of Siena identify the needs of their reference communities in order to foster outreach and participation around issues of environmental sustainability.

The First Edition- March 2025

In the first volume (March 2025), the needs, desires, and hopes of local communities are mapped, as well as their interaction with natural and green spaces in the province and the sustainability aspects of cultural events. The material was collected during various participatory events and is presented as a visual and conceptual dialogue with the local landscape and heritage.
