From May 22 to 24, Siena will host the Festival diffuso della sostenibilità EcoSistema Urbano, a program of workshops, discussions and interactive experiences. The purpose is to reflect on the city’s sustainable future and on the relationship between the environment, people, and urban spaces.
Siena Art Institute is participating on May 23 at 4.00 PM with Segui il Verde (Follow the Green), the closing event of the project Participation 4 Change – Persone al centro del cambiamento, promoted by Mani Tese ETS together with Deafal and SART, with support from the 8xMille of the Istituto Buddista italiano Soka Gakkai. At the same time, a parallel event takes place at Castello dell’Acciaiolo in Scandicci, as part of the fifth edition of the Festival 72 ore di Biodiversità organized by Rete Semi Rurali.
The project targets the communities of Florence and Siena, aiming to encourage active participation, promote sustainable behaviors, and take concrete action on climate change.
From this project, and thanks to the help of the local residents and organizations, Climate Action Plans have been developed. These are practical tools that connect the protection of the local environment to a global challenge, focusing on everyday actions that can drive real change. The Plans will be presented and shared during the event.
The program actively involves the local community in a process aimed at promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about climate change and the impact of human activities. Overall, the initiative seeks to highlight the importance of collaboration and awareness in driving change towards a more sustainable future.
The Festival is organized by the EcoSistema Urbano Siena group, which was created within the Municipality thanks to the participation and collaboration of various institutions, associations, and organizations working on sustainability issues.
Activities over the three days of the Festival will be independently organized by the participating organizations. Many events will be free, others will require advance booking on the individual organizations’ websites, as indicated in the program poster. The full program can be accessed through the QR code.
