🎨Project: Creative Community Volunteering

đź“… Duration: 6 months | From 1 July 2026

Starting in July 2026, Siena Art Institute will welcome two new volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) project, offering a six-month opportunity to contribute to our community.

The programme is open to young people (18-30) from ESC participating countries who are intersted in art, community engagment, storytelling, and sustainability. Volunteers will join the daily activities of the Institute working on projects that connect contemporary culture with social and environmental responsibility. Basic English is required, while Italian is considered a plus.

SART’s mission is to foster artistic excellence while developing cultural awareness and social responsability. Through educational programmes, public events, exhibitions, workshops, and community initiatives, SART encourages projects that engage with social and environmental issues.

During the six-month, volunteers will participate in a variety of activities across different areas of the Institute’s work.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Contemporary Arts and Culture: volunteers will support the organizations of talks, workshops, open studios and other events. They will assist with logistics, prepare spaces, welcome participants, and contribute to the activities hosted by the institute.

Communication and Storytelling: Volunteers will collaborate with SART’s communication team by creating photo and video content and contributing to social media channels and the websiste. Volunteers will document daily activities and events.

Summer Programmes and Educational Activities: Alongside its semester-abroad programmes, SART hosts intensive summer courses. Volunteers will help to prepare the materials, assist with event coordination, monitor spaces, support field trips, and document activities.

Community Gardening and Sustainability Projects: Volunteers will also take part in environmental and community initiatives connected to SART’s green spaces, including the community garden Ortoaperto and The Hidden Garden. Activities may include gardening and maintaining green areas.

The project combines practical involvement with opportunities for personal development. Volunteers will receive task-specific training and participate in weekly communication workshops. Volunteers will also attend On Arrival and Mid-Term Evaluation training session and have access to an online language platform. Daily interaction with staff and local residents will provide additional opportunities to practise Italian and engage with the local community.

Accommodation is provided by Siena Art Institute, volunteers will stay in a shared apartment located in the historic centre of Siena, approximately 20-30 minutes on foot from the Institute.

EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY CORPS (ESC)
