Shoshana Dentz (b. 1968, New York City) is a Brooklyn-based artist known for intimate, perceptually complex paintings and drawings derived from close observation of a transparent, tape-constructed box staged with mirrors. This self-made, nearly invisible still life has been the central subject of her practice for over a decade, serving as a vehicle to explore light, reflection, and the instability of perception. Dentz earned her MFA from Bard College and BFA from Brandeis University. She has received awards from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, NYFA, and the Elaine de Kooning Fellowship, and has participated in numerous residencies including Marble House Project and Art Omi. Her work has been widely exhibited in galleries and museums in the U.S. and internationally, and she teaches at Parsons, the School of Visual Arts, and NYU.
