Rone Shavers

Summer 2024

Rone Shavers is the author of the experimental Afrofuturist novel Silverfish (Clash Books), a finalist for the 2021 CLMP Firecracker Award and one of The Brooklyn Rail’s Best Books of 2020. He writes across genres, with work published in Black Warrior Review, BOMB, PANK, Action Spectacle, and more. His chapbook Ten Crônicas was published by The Magnificent Field in 2021. Shavers is fiction and hybrid genre editor at Obsidian: Literature and Arts in the African Diaspora. His critical writing appears in American Book Review, Electronic Book Review, and The Critical Flame. He also co-curated the 2019 Afrofuturist art exhibition In Place of Now and contributed to The New Routledge Companion to Science Fiction. He is Associate Professor of English at the University of Utah and has held fellowships at MacDowell, Dora Maar House, Loghaven, and more.
