Jo Shapcott is an award-winning British poet, editor, and professor, known for her inventive and thought-provoking work. She is the author of several acclaimed poetry collections, including Of Mutability (2010), which won the Costa Book of the Year Award, and Tender Taxes, her translations of Rainer Maria Rilke’s French poems. Her writing often explores themes of identity, illness, and transformation. As a two-time winner of the National Poetry Competition, Shapcott has received numerous honors, including the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2011. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and has taught creative writing at institutions such as Royal Holloway, University of London.
