Diana Al Hadid

Fall 2014

Born in Aleppo, Syria, Diana Al-Hadid lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She studied Sculpture and Art History at Kent State University, received her MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Her work draws on art history, mythology, and architecture, reinterpreting classical forms through fragmented, gravity-defying structures. Using materials such as polymer gypsum, fiberglass, steel, and plaster, Al-Hadid creates sculptures and installations that resemble architectural ruins and unstable monuments-caught between construction and collapse, figuration and abstraction.
