András Gerevich was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1976. He is the author of four poetry collections published in Hungarian and has translated numerous English-language poets into Hungarian, including Seamus Heaney, Frank O’Hara, and Charles Bernstein. In addition to poetry, he has written two plays that have been produced for the stage, as well as several scripts for animated films. His own work has been widely translated, appearing in roughly two dozen languages, with books available in English, French, German, Bulgarian, and Slovenian.Gerevich has taught poetry at Vassar College in New York and at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. He has also served as Poetry Editor for the literary journals Kalligram (Budapest) and Chroma (London), and worked as an assistant producer for the BBC World Service radio program Poetry by Post.
