Arts under D. Kokkinidis and G. Lappas, graduating in 1996. He went on to receive his MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 1998. He lives and works between Athens and New York, and has also developed projects in cities including Tehran, Varanasi, and Bangkok. Georgiou’s practice moves between painting, photography, and installation, often exploring urban experience, displacement, and the psychological atmosphere of contemporary life. His solo exhibitions have been presented at institutions and galleries including the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), Athens, and Eleni Koroneou Gallery, Athens. He has participated in numerous international group exhibitions and biennials, including presentations at BOZAR, Brussels; Steirischer Herbst, Graz; Kunstverein Heidelberg; EMST, Athens; the Auckland Triennial; EV+A Biennial, Limerick; and White Columns, New York. In 1999, he was nominated for the DESTE Prize.Georgiou has also curated exhibitions, including Lion under the Rainbow: Contemporary Art from Tehran (Athens, 2008).
