Per il balletto il Novecento ha un inizio folgorante con i Balletti Russi di Parigi, che producono capolavori entrati per sempre nella storia del genere. Ma è con le due guerre mondiali che il balletto, come le altre arti, subisce un profondo cambiamento che investe sia le nuove produzioni che la revisione dei classici.

For the ballet the twentieth century had a dazzling start with the Balleti Russi in Paris, producing masterpieces which entered forever into the history of the genre. But it was with the two World Wars that ballet, like the other arts, underwent a profound change that creating both new productions and revisions of the classics.
